I first read this sword-and-sorcery novel in the mid-1970s as a youth. I bought the novel used on Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley at either Moe's or Shakespeare Books. The cover by Jeffrey Jones completely captivated me.
Even today, knowing the plot of Gardener F. Fox's novel, I imagine my own stories that would use this cover art.
If only I could write a novel worthy of a Jeffrey Jones cover!
