Atlantean
Here's the view looking up when you take the photos you've just looked at.
Mendocino
As she filled my travel cup, the Mendocino waitress slipped and shifted through a double-handful of funky dance moves and then, after collecting my cash, closed the till with an eloquent twitch of her hips. All for her own obvious delight in the music coming out of the speakers. I wish I’d paid some attention to the tune.
Abalone Desperation
This shaggy mollusk seems to be an abalone driven by hunger from the deeper water to the very edge of a popular Mendocino beach. I was surprised and a bit dismayed to find this mollusk so close to where so many people launch their boats.
A Fair Breeze
The stiff wind blowing in our faces as we paddled back from South of Van Damme is not an uncommon feature of kayaking that location, but we'd been really lucky for the past handful of trips and hadn't had to work so hard at the end of the trip.
If you look closely at the photo, you'll notice water drops on the lens, but if you look at the water, the waves themselves, you can see how the wind is whipping the tops off of even these small waves.
A good workout.

Trip-Music: Curren and Saltfishforty
Tom Curren's In Plain View and Saltfishforty's Netherbow:
the soundtrack for the three-day Monterey dive/paddle/memory-lane jaunt.
A 3-time surf champion singing and playing guitar followed by an Orkney folk duo (with folk/punk roots) kept me company the whole time.

Apotheosis
Kind sight for the weary or fraught swimmer below -- the waiting kayak --
Succor, or -- more colloquially -- Sofia:
