Childhood favorite, Formative Te

 


The Velveteen Rabbit may be the first story that really taught me something special about the power of literature.

 I recall as a young boy being deeply confused by this story that I loved, for reading it made me both very sad and very happy at the same time.

Dorothy Dunnett Day -- By Zoom?

 



Dorothy Dunnett Day is the second Saturday in November.

Plenty of time to pick up a bottle of her favorite whisky, Highland Park, an Orkney distillation, to toast her memory.

I think the Society will have a Zoom meeting on November 13th.

Feline Dreaming

 

Early this morning, I dreamed that a guest had brought a furry little pet--a rat, a vole, a guinea pig?--to the house and was letting it run about on its own, despite the two resident cats.  Of course, Lady spotted the beastie and began stalking, chasing, and striking it "playfully."  I was intervening to save the creature and "spoil the fun" when I awoke to find Lady sleeping on my pillow, pressed against my thick hair, something she rarely rarely does with me.

Were we sharing a dream? 

Was I dreaming her dream?  

Was I spoiling her fun in her dream too?
